5 Questions to consider before buying any skincare product

My Store Admin

Every time we step into a beauty store, it feels like entering a Willy Wonka factory full of eye-catchy makeup and skincare products. We are here to help you through this by setting up criteria for doing that.

Five most important questions that one should ask before giving in to those tempting beauty products include -

1. Does it suit my skin type?

There are four main types of skin: dry, normal, oily, and sensitive. You should find products that are suitable for your skin type. But that is only one of the myriad criteria of the skin type you have. You should also find out whether your skin is glowing or dull, if it is too thin, healthy or not, and so on. Using the wrong products can have adverse effects on your skin. You may as well have to be careful in case you are allergic to a particular chemical ingredient. You can also try testers first in case you are investing in a new product.

2. Will it address my skin issue?

Some of the beauty products are tailor-made for your specific skin issue, whereas there are zillions of brands catering to every skincare issue, starting from rashes and bumps to black and brown spots. Some of them work miracles for your skin, while others may end up leaving you with even more significant problems than the ones you started with. Skin issues can arise from many factors like wrong skincare products to hormonal imbalance to diet change to disturbed sleep cycle and so on. Switching from one product to another will be nothing more than a wild guess.

If you are not sure about your skin issues or what to do about them, then it is better to consult a dermatologist or skin care specialist to find out more about your skin. Doing that will further help you with a curated skin care treatment. Most experts do recommend regular consultations from the age of 25 onwards.

3. Do I read the labels right before buying?

It is easy to get lost in numerous chemical ingredients that the brands put on the labels. Some of them sound familiar, and some are not. Our skin is porous and is susceptible to absorbing chemicals from beauty products. Parabens, SLS, Phthalates, Formaldehyde containing products are the ones you must always steer clear from as they damage your skin in them. Most of the aromatic ingredients used in beauty and hair care products are also carcinogenic. So, it is for the best if you always go for the ones made up of less harsh elements.

There are also many cruelty-free beauty brands out there that are doing their job correctly without testing them on animals. If you are the one to support these kinds of brands, then a glance at the labels will help you decide better.

4. Does it fit my budget?

Skincare is a continuous process where you will need to invest regularly. Therefore, you should refrain from impulsive buying behaviour and choose the products that you will be able to afford typically. A high-end product doesn't always translate to better results. Many affordable ones yield similar results at a pocket-friendly budget.

5. Have I explored all the other options well?

We all have been there where we bought makeup products because it is hyped. Therefore, instead of purchasing a product to experiment with, it is better to do a little background research about the products and compare them to similar ones.

Reading reviews provide better insights into what you should go for, also buying a personalized skincare product could be an option when looking for a new skincare product.
